The View from the Middle
A journal curated by Cornell Guion
The View From the Middle is a journal curated by Cornell Guion that offers a diverse perspective on business, corporate America, and occasionally politics—through the lens of “the middle.” This refers to those of us who are no longer entry-level but are seasoned professionals. We’ve led in some capacity, been exposed to upper-level leadership, and have developed a broader understanding of how corporate decisions are made and how they impact all of us.
Our Purpose
The goal of TVFTM is to provide insightful discussions on the business world by tackling topics that matter—offering advice, guidance, and perspective for both decision-makers and those affected by their choices. While we do not aim to be overly controversial, we will challenge conventional thinking and push important conversations forward.
This is a passion project, and I hope you’ll enjoy, engage and share it with others.
What to Expect
The monthly write-ups will:
-
Target organizational leadership looking to better understand employees and communities they don’t interact with regularly.
-
Support newer professionals navigating spaces—whether in corporate America, political spheres, or community leadership—where they or their families haven’t traditionally been represented.
-
Provide insight and advice for those working in business, engaging in political discourse, or striving to strengthen their communities amidst evolving workplace cultures, policies, and societal shifts.
-
Use facts, statistical data, and personal experiences to support discussions on business, politics, and community-driven change.
Who’s Writing?
Our chosen authors will come from diverse backgrounds and industries, but they will share two key traits:
-
Experience – They are tenured professionals who have seen the inner workings of high level decision-making.
-
Perspective – They have a bird’s-eye view of organizational structures—understanding both senior leadership’s decision-making processes and how those choices impact entry-level and experienced workers alike.
